When you create a link, when you modify it, when someone clicks it — that action talks to one of our servers worldwide.
One ping there and back to establish a connection, another one to establish a secure protocol, etc.
This whole process can take between 10ms and 500ms, depending on how far you are from your nearest server. Not a big deal for one link, but adds up pretty quickly if you’ve got a thousand.
Previously, we only had servers in:
- The US
- Germany
- South Korea
And now, we’re adding two new ones in Brazil and Thailand.
The Thai one is primarily meant to speed up our users’ links in the APAC region, which is where we’re getting a ton of users from.
Brazil, however, is a significant expansion, strengthening the experience of all our users in South America.
If you’re near any of those regions, even if just on the same continent or in neighboring countries? Congrats — you can now use Short.io up to 98% faster.
As always, we’re committed to improving experience — at no extra cost to you.
